Project Overview
As a key power source for the East China Power Grid, the Huaneng Shidongkou Power Plant actively supports national environmental protection policies and strives to build a green, low-carbon, and efficient modern coal-fired power plant. Its desulfurization wastewater zero discharge project is a key step in achieving comprehensive wastewater utilization and eliminating environmental pollution. For this project, Hebei Weitong Fiberglass Co., Ltd., leveraging its strong technical expertise and extensive project experience, successfully manufactured the system's core equipment—the ultra-large fiberglass concentrator.
Core Challenges and Technical Requirements
Desulfurization wastewater has a complex composition, containing high concentrations of chloride ions, sulfates, heavy metals, and suspended solids. It is highly corrosive and prone to scaling. The Shidongkou project's high processing capacity demands placed extremely high demands on the core concentrator equipment:
Extremely Large Dimensions and Structural Stability
With a diameter of 6.3 meters and a total height exceeding 18 meters, the equipment, a super-large composite material, presents significant challenges in structural design, molding, hoisting, transportation, and installation.
Excellent Corrosion Resistance
It must withstand the alternating corrosion of various high-concentration acids, bases, and salts found in desulfurization wastewater, ensuring a service life of over 20 years.
High-Precision Manufacturing Requirements
The installation and docking of tower internals (such as the water distributor, packing support, and mist eliminator) require extremely high standards to ensure uniform water flow distribution and stable mass transfer efficiency, fundamental to achieving "zero-emission" process targets.
Strict Environmental and Safety Standards
The equipment must be leak-proof throughout, meeting the power plant's stringent safety and environmental emission requirements.

Innovative Design and Structural Optimization
Advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software was used to perform mechanical simulations on the tower structure, optimizing the winding profile and wall thickness distribution to ensure absolute safety under full load, wind, and seismic loads.
To address the tower's exceptionally large diameter, a segmented modular design was adopted, ensuring manufacturing precision while also addressing transportation and on-site assembly challenges.
Advanced Materials and Processes
Vinyl Ester resin is used for the inner lining and main structure. This material offers excellent resistance to high temperatures, acid and alkali corrosion, and permeation, far exceeding traditional materials such as PP and stainless steel.
The main winding layer utilizes alkali-free glass fiber and a high-performance resin system, precisely wound using a computer-controlled winding machine to ensure uniform fiber tension and precise resin content, resulting in exceptional mechanical strength and rigidity for the tower.
Precision Production and Quality Control
Each layer of resin application and each layer of fiber winding is rigorously inspected, and the finished product undergoes 100% non-destructive testing to ensure the absence of bubbles, delamination, and defects.
Professional Installation and Teamwork
An experienced professional installation team was dispatched on-site, working closely with the client and general contractor to overcome challenges such as the narrow site and high-altitude operations.
High-precision measurement and positioning equipment was used to ensure the precise alignment of the tower segments and the correct installation of the tower internals, resulting in a successful installation.
