Fiberglass Flange

FRP flanges are essential, critical connection components in FRP piping systems, used to connect and seal pipe segments, as well as between pipe segments and valves, pumps, or other equipment.

There are two main types of FRP flanges, differing in their structure and performance:

1. Integral Flange

Advantages:

Highest strength: Molded as a single piece, they offer excellent structural integrity and high load-bearing capacity.

No leak path: They eliminate bonding interfaces, resulting in extremely reliable sealing.

Excellent fatigue resistance: They can better withstand vibration and pressure fluctuations.

2. Bonded Flange / Loose-Sleeve Flange

Manufacturing Process: The flange is manufactured separately from the pipe and then bonded to the pipe using a high-strength adhesive.

Advantages:

Flexible manufacturing and high production efficiency.

Lower cost.

Loose-sleeve flanges facilitate alignment of bolt holes.

Summary:

FRP flanges are a precise and critical component in FRP piping systems. While it perfectly inherits the corrosion resistance of fiberglass, its successful application relies heavily on proper selection (wrap-around vs. bonding) and rigorous installation practices (particularly cross-tightening and torque control of bolts). When selecting and using this type of pipe, it's crucial to consider it as a systemic project, not just a simple connector, to ensure the long-term, safe, and leak-free operation of the entire piping system.
