FRP pressure storage tanks are among the most technologically advanced FRP products, demanding the most stringent design and manufacturing requirements. They not only withstand the weight of the medium in static conditions but also operate safely under internal pressure.
Mainly made of fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP), these sealed containers are used to store or process pressurized fluids (gases and liquids). Their design and manufacturing must adhere to strict pressure vessel specifications (such as ASME X and NB/T 47012).
Fixed-length winding is the primary and most advanced process for manufacturing FRP pressure vessels.
Process: Under the control of a computer numerical control (CNC) system, resin-impregnated continuous fibers are precisely wound onto a rotating mandrel according to a predetermined pattern and thickness, followed by curing and demolding.
Core Features
High specific strength
Lightweight yet high pressure-bearing capacity.
Excellent corrosion resistance
Withstands a wide range of chemical media, including acids, alkalis, and salts, eliminating the need for linings and anti-corrosion coatings.
Design Flexibility
Different winding angles can be customized to optimize stress distribution.
Excellent insulation
Non-conductive, excellent thermal insulation.
Low maintenance
Long service life, requiring no frequent maintenance.
The fiberglass pressure storage tank is a specialized configuration within Weitong FRP's FRP Storage Tanks product line, purpose-built for applications where the vessel must contain internal pressure rather than simply hold the static weight of a stored liquid. Where standard vertical and horizontal FRP tanks are designed for atmospheric, non-pressure storage, a fiberglass pressure vessel is engineered and wound to a specific pressure rating, making it suitable for filtration systems, pressurized process lines, and sealed chemical reaction vessels.
An FRP pressure tank differs from an atmospheric storage tank at the level of design and manufacturing, not just shape. Because the vessel wall must resist internal pressure in every direction rather than only the hydrostatic load of a liquid column, the laminate structure, winding pattern, and dome-shaped end closures are all engineered specifically for pressure service:
Fixed-length filament winding — the fiberglass reinforcement is wound with precisely controlled hoop and helical angles along a defined vessel length, producing the uniform wall thickness and mechanical strength that pressure service requires
Domed, non-flat end closures — pressure vessels use dished or hemispherical heads rather than flat bottoms, which distribute internal pressure evenly across the shell rather than concentrating stress at a flat panel
Rated working pressure and temperature — each fiberglass pressure storage tank is manufactured and tested to a defined operating pressure and temperature range, rather than being sized only by storage volume
Sealed, closed-system construction — unlike open-top atmospheric tanks, an FRP pressure vessel is a fully closed system with top and, where required, bottom port connections engineered for pressurized flow
Weitong FRP manufactures fiberglass pressure storage tanks configured to project-specific pressure, temperature, and connection requirements, including:
● Vessel diameter and height sized to the required flow rate and media volume for filtration or process applications
● Rated working pressure suited to water treatment, filtration, and light industrial process service
● Resin systems selected for compatibility with the pressurized medium, including chemical-resistant vinylester options for aggressive fluids
● Top and bottom port configurations for single-opening or dual-opening (inlet/outlet) service
● Reinforced neck and flange connections engineered to maintain seal integrity under sustained pressure cycling
Hebei Weitong FRP Co., Ltd. has manufactured fiberglass reinforced plastic products since 2015, operating a 20,000-square-meter production base with 11,000 square meters of dedicated workshops. As a certified FRP pressure tank manufacturer holding ISO9001, ISO14001, and ISO45001 certifications, every fiberglass pressure storage tank we produce is verified on our high-specification pressure testing platform before shipment — the same equipment used to confirm strength, sealing integrity, and quality compliance across our full storage tank range.
Our storage tank division maintains an annual production capacity of over 10,000 tons, backed by 8 utility model patents and recognition as a High-tech Enterprise. We have supplied FRP storage tanks to qualified partners including CNPC, Sinopec, CNOOC, Huaneng Group, and Beijing Enterprises Water Group, and export our products to the United States, Germany, Italy, Russia, Pakistan, South Korea, and dozens of other countries worldwide.
Every fiberglass pressure storage tank project starts with your required working pressure, temperature, connection type, and process medium. Our engineering team reviews these parameters and configures the vessel accordingly. Contact us to discuss your FRP pressure vessel requirements, or explore our other storage tank configurations, including vertical storage tanks, horizontal storage tanks, and large fiberglass tanks for oversized, on-site fabricated projects.
